After downloading, please run the file sqlct50setupfree.exe to install the software on your system.
You can run it by locating it on your hard drive, and double-clicking the name (sqlct50setupfree.exe).
You can also download SQL Server Comparison Tool as a compressed file, in .zip format. This will save you the downloading time. In order to make use of the .zip file, you need to be able to uncompress it using specialized software, which permits you to double-click on the downloaded .zip file and will then allow you to access the compressed file.

If you're not sure where the file is located on your hard drive, it's easy to find it. Go to the Windows Start Menu (by pressing the key on the lower left of your keyboard with the Windows logo on it - it's usually located between the Ctrl and the Alt key), then press "f" for "file" and "f" for "find". In the box, type sqlct50setupfree.exe. Then, hit "enter" (or click the Find Now button). When the computer displays a line beginning with sqlct50setupfree.exe, simply double click the word sqlct50setupfree.exe, and the installation will begin.
In order to connect to server, MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) 2.5 or higher need to be installed on the target computer. Usually, these components are present on most computers; if they are missing, SQL Server Comparison Tool will display instructions for downloading and installing them (you can download MDAC from http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm ; please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions).
